BBC One will screen a one-off special of Jim'll Fix It this Christmas, the broadcaster has announced.

To commemorate the late TV presenter Sir Jimmy Savile, a version of the show will be presented by Eastenders star Shane Ritchie.

The programme, which ran from 1975 to 1994, gave young viewers the chance to have their dreams 'fixed' by Savile. One of the most famous 'fixes' included cub scouts who were sent to eat a packed lunch on a rollercoaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Danny Cohen, controller of BBC One, said: "I think it will be a great tribute to Jimmy to recreate his famous show as a Christmas treat for audience."

Describing the show as "compulsive viewing", Shane Ritchie said that he was "honoured to be part of this Christmas Special and salute to Sir Jimmy and fix it for a new generation".

Earlier this month, Sir Jimmy Savile's gold coffin was displayed at a Hotel in Leeds before he was buried in his hometown of Scarborough.
