As the weather starts to improve, many teachers will notice their students getting a little restless as they glance out the window, wishing they could play while it is beautiful out. However, they still need to learn, so it is important for teachers to find a way to keep their kids focused until summer break.
This idea may seem impossible, especially when the days become hotter and hotter. However, there are a few tips teachers should keep in mind. First of all, do not lose the daily routine, by maintaining the same schedule the teacher has all year, the students will stay focused at the task at hand. But it is important to add some fun too. Planning a big field trip or an outdoors activity during these last few months can not only get the students out, but it can give them something to look forward to.
Finally, on the days when the class cannot venture outside, possibly play a game at the end of the class or use movement exercises to keep the students focused.
